 2016 Preview

Greene County finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Greene County finished seventh in Class 3A region four with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Greene County was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.8 points a game.

Greene County struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 37.3 points a game.

Since 2010, Greene County has gone a combined 19-42. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 16 seasons, Greene County has managed to compile a record of 65-99. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 3A and 280th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Gentrall Eatman who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-14 over the past two seasons at Greene County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Eatman.

Coach Eatman's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 5-14 (26.3%).

The Greene County Tigers will play in Class 3A region four during the 2016 season.

This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region four.

The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Francis Marion on Friday, August 19. Last year the Francis Marion Rams finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 2A region four. The Rams lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to G.W. Long by a score of 55-0.

Greene County and Francis Marion have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 6-0-0 record against the Rams. They last met in 2015 with Greene County winning by a score of 36-22.
